Florida attorney general seeks temporary injunction for homeowners sued by roofing company

The Florida Attorney General’s Office has filed a motion for a temporary injunction in a civil lawsuit, asking a Citrus County judge to halt ongoing court cases between consumers and Florida Roof Specialists, Jacksonville, Fla., according to WFLA. The company is not an NRCA member.

Many homeowners said the roofing company told them they would only have to pay their insurance deductibles for a new roof. However, after their roofs were installed, they were billed large amounts. When they did not pay, liens were placed on their homes, with Florida Roof Specialists suing more than 250 of its customers.

The Florida Attorney General’s Office sued Florida Roof Specialists and its president, Jeremy S. Rogero, in September 2025, alleging a “scheme” that violates Florida’s Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act. The lawsuit comes after an investigation into more than 130 complaints and calls the roofing company’s liens “frivolous” and “baseless,” seeking to have them thrown out of court. The attorney general also is asking the court to deem the contracts the liens are based on “unenforceable.”

As the lawsuit progresses, homeowners who could lose their homes to foreclosure by Florida Roof Specialists have had to decide whether to settle their cases or wait. The motion for a temporary injunction could provide some relief for homeowners and aims to dissolve all existing foreclosure lawsuits, terminate liens and stop the filing of new construction liens.
